Membership

Membership in TACA is about professional affiliation -- we provide full-scale promotion of artist members, a link with high standards for craft as well as opportunities for exposure, professional growth and a sense of community with other artists. TACA's mission is to encourage, promote and connect crafts and crafts people in Tennessee, working specifically through education, networking and marketing.

TACA members enjoy a vital connection to other craft artists and enthusiasts interested in the fine craft heritage of Tennessee. Since TACA is a membership-driven organization, members play an active role in shaping the activities to meet their personal and professional needs. All members are welcome to attend board meetings where policies and procedures are developed and defined.

Membership in TACA is open to anyone, regardless of race, color, religion, national origin, gender, life style, disability or age. Members represent a wide spectrum of involvement with craft, from the beginner to the most accomplished. Our statewide network includes professional craft artists, teachers, students, shop and gallery owners, guilds, co-ops, schools and art departments, craft suppliers and promoters.

TACA member benefits:

Free subscription to the TACA newsletter, The Tennessee Artisan, published quarterly, keeping members informed of craft fair and exhibition opportunities nationwide, special events, and related news about the craft field.
Printed and Online Membership Directory with listings of all members, their craft medium and contact information, published annually, and available on the TACA Web site.
A mentoring program of members helping members, sharing knowledge and experience across a wide range of topics.
Networking with a diverse group of craft artists, collectors, and appreciators who value the creative work of the hand.
Additional exhibiting opportunities in Chapter Booths at the TACA Tennessee Craft Fair and TACA Fall Craft Fair.
Demonstration opportunities at TACA Craft Fairs and through collaborations with local school districts and businesses.
Exposure to wholesale marketing through participation in a group booth at select wholesale events and group ads in wholesale catalogs.
A prestigious biennial exhibition, The Best of Tennessee Craft, with discounted entry fees for members.
Reduced admission rates to TACA’s annual business development workshops. Past workshops have included presentations on slides and the jurying process, booth design, wholesale marketing of crafts, self-promotion and publicity, inside tips on insurance for craftspeople, and tax planning for craft businesses.
Annual meeting and board retreats featuring seminars such as Crafts and Technology and Becoming a Better Advocate for the Arts.
Chapters across the state further serve to connect and strengthen the ties between craftspeople in Tennessee by organizing additional activities on a local level and electing representatives from their region to the TACA Governing Board.
